We’ve signed up to a site called sellaband.com. The premise of it is that a band signs up and uploads some music. Then visitors to the site have a listen and if they like what they hear they become a believer.

Once a band has 5000 believers the site gives the band £50, 000 to record and produce an album, a tenner for every believer. So naturally we would quite like £50000 bucks. We’ve already got one believer so we only need a few more. Heres the link.

Technorati Profile

This Saturday - Pivo Pivo Gig

We’re playing this Saturday night in Pivo Pivo in Glasgow. If you’ve not been there before it’s a great venue on waterloo street. No tickets for this one so it’s £4 on the door and we’re playing with Rio Callaghan and The Gens.

New Music - Ambient

I’ve got some new music from a couple bands that are on myspace that i’d like to heartily recommend. I’ve mainly found them through friend requests but now and then from other folk. If you’re a fan of Sigur Ros or Mogwai then there’s a good chance you might like The american dollar I don’t know a thing about them and i’m quite happy for it to stay that way. I think they’re on their second album though. They’ve added some new music recently. Another fantastic bunch of noise mongers are Sanchez is Driven by Demons Very excellent.

Mexicolas at King Tuts

The Mexicolas played in King Tuts last night. I’ve been a fan of them since we played with them last year and i wasn’t disappointed. I’d been complaining on here about the lack of good rock bands around at the moment but I obviously forgot about these guys. They started with the song “shame” which blew my socks off, the riff in that song is superb. Have a listen here Mexicolas myspace The song “big in Japan” was another highlight. Im afraid I cant remember any of the other song names but they had some really good new music which i’m going to hunt out. There was a song where the guitarist used some really nice harmonics in the verse coupled with a really good simple bass line. Glad I dragged myself out of the house on a wet tuesday night for this one.

Classic Grand photos

Heres a few photos from our last show in the Classic Grand. We’re playing there again a week friday and we’ve got some new music to play.

music bookmarking with myspace

I’ve practically given up on CD’s a the moment. When I buy one I rip it to my computer and throw the case in the cupboard. So whats the point in buying them? Well for a start I cant find a legal download site that I like that doesn’t charge a monthly subscription fee. (If you know of one post it in a comment) Thats excluding itunes of course, but that doesnt count as you have to burn the song to a CD before it belongs to you and not Apple.
I know thats a bit hypocritical as our new music gets released on itunes but I do think itunes is excellent if you want to use nothing but apple software. So what i’ve resorted to a the moment is just myspace bookmarking. Which is organising my favourite bands into my top friends so I can easily get to their pages and have access to their songs. (a few of them anyway)

Nada Surf in Glasgow

I went to see Nada Surf in the Garage on Saturday night. This was my third time seeing them and they were absolutely fantastic. I cant recommend this band enough. Big highlight for me was “Killians Red” and “These Bones” which shows that their new music is just as good as their old stuff. I was a bit dissapointed that they didnt play for a further 3 hours though. Heres one of their videos.

New Music from Nada Surf

If you’ve heard of Nada Surf this is good news. If not,  this is good news. They’ve put their superb new album ‘lucky’ on their myspace page. Oh, actually, i’ve just had a look and they’ve taken it off. Bastards. That was a good ploy. They got me hooked on it then left me wanting. I’ll have to go buy it now.
